The Summer of 2014 has been more than unusual and very hot. I hope you all are ready for the coming autumn season and the multitude of things that happen here in Greater Gainesville.

In July we had a great afternoon/evening lakefront party and potluck with hosts Sean and Duane. Lots of new faces and friends enjoyed a Summer's delight. Thank you so much!

August has been month of transition and with no hosts/hostesses to look to, we turn to September and the remainder of the year.

On Sunday, yes, SUNDAY, September 21st, GCA has rented the very nicely appointed Poe Springs Lodge from 11:00am to 4:00pm in High Springs for a Potluck Picnic. It has A/C for those who may ask and a new grill, and an outside covered picnic area with many tables where we invite you all to bring a dish to share. The Springs are 72° and a short walk away. Please mark the date and please try to attend. It will be a great day! (Rain or Shine, we've got you covered.) Admission to the park is FREE; bring a chair (if you like), and of course your swimsuit, towel and/or blanket. If you plan on staying dry, just show up and enjoy food and friendship. Come celebrate Autumnal Equinox Eve!

Coming in October, PRIDE WEEK 2014 featuring:
Community Awards Banquet, mid-week activities, PRIDE Downtown Parade and Bo Diddley Plaza, and this year a closing tribute Sunday brunch at Emiliano's on 10/26. I encourage all GCA members to help this inaugural brunch become a great success.

GCA will once again enjoy our annual Oktoberfest event courtesy of Eddie and Munroe, on Saturday evening October 25th, from 6:00pm to 9:00pm. It's a busy time, so mark your calendars now. You won't regret it!

Watch for more specific details, with times and costs, coming in the next few weeks. Much gratitude to all!
Go Gators!
