President's
Message
Oh Happy Days! The deep freezes are gone and
spring is sprung. If you have received this monthly GCA update,
thank you for renewing your membership. Those who have not
renewed have unfortunately been removed from our mailing list.
Please know that GCA only exists through individual support
and it is the hope of the Board that GCA will always be welcoming
to new friends, men and women, of all backgrounds. Naturally,
we hope the former members will return to the fold.
Remember to set your clock an hour ahead this month. Daylight
Saving Time takes effect at 2:00am on Sunday, March 14th.
Also, remember to wear green on the 17th!
This month, without benefit of a host, I offer you 2 dates
to consider. UF baseball is back and provides a great evening
out, pure sport, and the seating is inexpensive on these 2
dates. Wednesday, March 10th UF takes on Illinois State at
6:30 pm. Likewise, Wednesday, March 24th, UF takes on Florida
Gulf Coast University also at 6:30 pm. Admission to these
games is $1:00 for unreserved grandstand seats. Hot dogs and
drinks are also $1.00. If you are interested, please meet
me (us) on the 1st base side of the field, behind the visitor's
dugout in the unreserved grandstand. I'm sure we will be easy
to spot. Wear comfortable apparel (orange and blue is good)
that will keep you warm as the evening progresses and the
temperature cools. Hope to see you there.
In April, GCA will gather on the rim of the prairie at the
home of Tim Martin. Details will follow. Come and enjoy the
sunset.
To all of those who live within Gainesville's city limits,
please vote on or before Tuesday March 16th (polls close at
7pm). Keep in mind that GCA member Craig Lowe is a candidate
for mayor.
Happy St. Patrick's Day! Also, know that hope springs eternal.
Joe Antonelli, President
